Why I Chose Young Living
About a year and a half ago I was having some major issues with headaches. Headaches were nothing new to me, I have struggled with them since high school, but these ones were different. They were what felt like pinching in my temples and my entire neck would tense up. I tried the typical things I have always done to rid my headaches, chiropractor, medications, caffeine, no caffeine, more sleep, less sleep, everything. I finally gave in and went to see my doctor. She told me I was experiencing stress headaches. Okay, makes sense. At the time I was interning, working, and about to go back to school full time. What did not make sense was what her plan of action would be. She was going to be putting me on an antidepressant. She said it would take down my stress levels and relieve my headaches. Now, I am in no way a medical professional, but why would I want to be on an antidepressant for a headache induced by stress? I wouldn't want to be!
Fast forward about three hours past the appointment. I had gotten the prescription filled and taken it home, but not taken any of the medication. Instead I started looking into essential oils. I didn't want to be dependent on a medication. I had also turned down a prescription years before for me headaches and started seeing a chiropractor. I'm just not into putting chemicals into my body when they aren't necessary... or at all.
Anyway, I had reached out to someone who used essential oils through a different company, not Young Living. I got some samples of oils that could be uplifting or said to help with headaches. I LOVED the results. I bought my own kit a couple of months later, and began making my stockpile/stash. It got pretty big, I was finally feeling like my knowledge was expanding and my results were positive... Or so I thought.
While on my honeymoon I broke out into a terrible rash. We were in a tropical place, so I put it off as a heat rash and moved on. It went away when we got home, about three days after noticing it, then a week later it was back. I was completely stumped. How could I have a heat rash in September, in Michigan. I know Michigan has crazy weather, but after 22 years of it, I handle it decently. Meanwhile, I had been watching posts from a Facebook friend about how much she loved her oils. Young Living oils to be exact. After lots of contemplating and process of elimination, I realized my oils, not from Young Living, were the culprit for my horrid rash.
During the past few months of using essential oils, I had a Facebook friend that was posting about how much she LOVED her oils. I had caught on that she was using Young Living and although I felt that Young Living and the company I was using were always unsaid competetors, I had learned a lot from her posts about EO's in general, and different ways to use them. So when I had figured out that the oils I was using were the reason for my rash, I reached out to her. I told her I was interested Young Living because I absolutely loved the results from EO's in general, and did not want to have to give them up. She shared what seemed like endless knowledge and I was just soaking it all up. I loved it! The endless support and knowledge were exactly what I felt was lacking before. Sure, I could get on Pinterest and search for ideas or blends to make, but it wasn't the same as having someone to ask, who then could refer you to a video or literature on the matter. I knew from our first conversation I would be "switching" to Young Living. The way they opened up every single aspect of how they retrieved their oils and distilled them was so comforting. Young Living refers to this as the "Seed to Seal", and it is absolutely amazing, and comforting! The entire idea behind why I chose an alternate route to care for myself, was so that I would KNOW what I was putting into, onto, or around my body, and Young Living gave that to me better than I had ever anticipated.
Once I got some samples and ordered my kit I was HOOKED. I could use any oil with NO issues. I was so impressed on how welcoming the Young Living community was. Any question I had, I could ask and get direction on. There was never a time I was embarrassed to ask either. I had this awesome mentor and teacher right at my fingertips. Day or night. I was added to communities on Facebook where we were all learning about how these oils could help us better care for our families and I was feeling blessed beyond belief.
Now, don't get me wrong, if I need medical attention, I will go. I am not crossing out modern medicine or technique completely. I am simply choosing an alternate option for everything I possibly can. Young Living is a wellness company. I can get oils to assist my life in all sorts of areas, it's not just for when I am not feeling well. They come in handy when I'm cleaning, feeling down, can't fall asleep, or when Sal over does it at the gym. I could go on and on, but this post was to simply explain why I chose Young Living, and it has gotten way longer than I anticipated, so I want to sum it up in a few short sentences for you.
I chose Young Living because I know they are 100% pure by the openness that the company has. I chose Young Living because it gave me an alternate route to caring for my family and home. I chose Young Living because of the endless support and friendship.
Please, feel free to ask questions and inquire. I know this post was long winded and I may have strayed from my point a bit, but I felt it was necessary.
Until next time, xoxo
