Valentine's Day - My DIY Gift and Two Sweet Treats

Let me start out by being very honest with you all, I love any reason to craft, bake, give gifts, and honestly, go a little overboard. This year for Valentine's Day I started out by saying I wouldn't do anything because Sal and I will be celebrating our three year anniversary in less than two weeks. Obviously I did not hold up to that deal and when I announced this to Sal he gave me a dramatic "WHAT!? I thought we weren't doing anything?" followed by an, "Oh well, I had plans made for you anyway". The little sneak.

Anyway, here are two sweet treats I made for my Valentines, and the gift I put together for Sal.

Treat #1, conversation heart sugar cookies.

I used a family favorite sugar cookie recipe and the Betty Crocker Decorators Icing recipe. The icing was a little runny for my words to turn out, and I was feeling lazy so many of the cookies just have designs, but none the less, they taste yummy and they are super cute!

Next I made festive mini cupcakes.

For these I cheated big time. I bought boxed "pink velvet" cake mix and a hot pink canned frosting. I made the cupcakes according to the box, but added some confectioners sugar and whipped some air into the canned frosting. I added some red sugar and white round sprinkles and there you have it. Super cute, simple, festive, mini cupcakes to give to my favorite people.

For Sal I put together a cheesy play on words bag of groceries. I had been wanting to do this for quite some time and I compiled some of my favorites from Pinterest. Here is what I came up with.

Then I decorated a paper bag with a made up store name.

I just love this cheesy, lovey - dovey crap.

I hope everyone feels lots of love tomorrow and always.

Until next time, xoxo
